Did Oliver bow twice to Mr. Bumble? “Make a bow to the gentleman, Oliver,' said Mrs. Mann. Oliver made a bow, which was divided between the beadle on the chair, and the cocked hat on the table. 'Will you go along with me, Oliver?' said Mr. Bumble, in a majestic voice.” From: Dickens,Charles. “Oliver Twist.” iBooks. A question bothers me here that Oliver bowed to bumble twice? It is weird if he bowed to a hat.

One bow ("a" bow). I take the "divided" to mean the bow was directed to a space in between the beadle, Bumble, and his hat.
