What is the difference bitween: (Something) is gone, (Something) ran out, and (Something) is over?

Gone = disappeared The money is gone! Somebody has stolen it. Ran out = all used up After the sailors had been lost at sea for five days, their food supplies ran out. NB You could also use 'were gone' here. Over = ended - in terms of TIME The lesson is over/ the summer is over/ the film is over
