What is the difference between an approach and a method? An example would be: communicative teaching method is considered an approach rather than a method. Thanks for answering!

They are very similar. In this context, "approach" may mean a natural, informal and/or spontaneous technique, in contrast with a more systematic "method". We would need to know the wider context to understand how the writer exactly used these words.
