What is the meaning of "félnek-e" in the following sentence?
Remekművemet megmutattam a fölnőtteknek, és megkérdeztem őket, nem félnek-e tőle.
What is the usage of "-e"? I can see another sentence of "-e".
Meg akartam tudni, valóban megérti-e a dolgokat.

a hyphen and an e after a verb makes it an indirect question, same as adding "whether" in English,
I asked them whether they would be scared
Another example:
Many times when you convert a question into indirect speech:
Van Penzed? --> do you have money?
Azt kerdezte hogy van-e penzem --> he asked me whether I have money
Mesz egyedul? --> Are you going alone?
Azt kerdezte megyek-e egyedul ---> He asked me whether I'm going alone
