Both are a feeling. For example if I see other french people who fight a poor man on the street on tv, i would feel "indignation", i'm ashamed of beeing of the same nationality of those guy. For example, we can write : When I see the bombing of Hiroshima, "je ressens un sentiment d'indignation vis à vis de l'espèce humaine" "I feel a feeling of "indignation" for the human specie, I'm ashamed of what the human species can do to itself. "Colère" is simply Anger, more powerfull is "Colère noire" (black anger), or "fureur" for example.

La colère est un sentiment primaire (avec la peur et la surprise) L'indignation est bien plus élaboré ("colère sociale") elle peut prendre aussi un sens politique "Je trouve une situation injuste et l'indignation me pousse à réagir face à ce que je perçois comme incompatible avec mes valeurs" Anger is a primary feeling (with fear and surprise) Indignation is way more elaborate (social anger)It can take a political signification "I find something unfair and indignation push me to react to what I perceve as incompatible with my values"
