I'll try to re-write it. In its current form it doesn't make a lot of sense. "A juvenile fish that is capable of feeding itself, known as a fry, ranges from three to eight centimetres long and lives in the lower river, where the water is fast-flowing." I felt like I needed to define the word "fry", as it's very uncommon.

The sentence has several mistakes and has been written by someone with a lower intermediate level of English. I don't recommend using it to help you with your English.
