Sigmund Freud explained that this dream was some sort of warning, that let him know about his own thirst. The vessel represents him experiencing some kind of sorrow due to the fact that he does not have it anymore. Furthermore, the water in the vessel was salty, which persuaded Freud to get up to drink some cool water and quench his thirst. Therefore we can conclude that dreams of convenience are a way in which our mind's unconscious parts warn us about unnoticeable issues or preoccupations.
