I'm describing the plot of a movie . Is it OK? 'At last, the dog dies.' I'm not sure what tense I should use here. Thanks

'At last, the dog dies' sounds like the dog has spent the entire movie in pain and anguish. Finally, it dies at the end. "In the end, the dog dies" sounds better. The dog still dies, but we hope it was quick and painless.
