How do I say something is stupid? これがバカです。 Or これが愚かです。 If neither of these is correct, please let me know.

I think a sentence like "this is stupid" is idiomatic. If I translate it literally, it goes like "これはバカだ", but it don't make sense. This is stupid.(= This situation is stupid.) そんなバカな。 バカげてる。 そんなのおかしい。 This question is stupid. そんな質問(しつもん)はおかしい。 そんな質問(しつもん)はバカげている。 「おかしい」 means, not right, not suitable for the situation. 「バカげている」 means something has the mood of 「バカ」. We often avoid a direct way of saying something. 「バカげている」 can soften the sentence.
