What does this"another" refer to? How to understand the latter part of the sentence?
Here is the sentence:
“I do not like talking about injured players,” José Mourinho announced a few months before he left Real Madrid – shortly before going on to talk, rather darkly, about assorted injured players and provide in the process another in a series of similar digressions through the sullen, dying autumn of his time at the Bernabéu.

Does it mean: he continued to talk about injured players (another time), which is kind of "digression" because he said he don't like to talk about injured players. (ironic)
also what does "in the process" mean? Does it mean in his remaining days in Real Madrid?

Another digression - he regularly went "off topic," when he was supposed to be answering questions and this was another occasion.
"before going on to talk ...................and providing, in the process," This just means that this specific talk about injured players was another example of him digressing from the topics that we was supposed to be talking about.

Let me simplify it:
Jose does not like to talk about injured players.
Then he talks about injured players again. In fact, he seems to talk about injured players frequently.
When he talks about injured players again (when he is "in the process" of talking about injured players again), he is adding one more "digression" about injured players to his long list of "digressions" about injured players. He talks about injured players a lot; when he does this, he adds to his list of "digressions" about injured players. He is in the "autumn" of his career there; he'll be gone soon. Throughout his final days, he keeps talking about injured players.
