I am not an advanced French speaker but I am pretty sure that "in fact" = "en fait" Interestingly, in English we use the French expression "au fait with sth" to mean "familiar with sth". e.g. I'm not very au fait with that issue - can you tell me more? I can't be sure that English speakers use the expression "au fait with" in the same way that French people do.
