What's the meaning of "the true focus of education"? I came across this sentence "The child, not the academic subject, is the true focus of education." Could you teach me?

This sentence basically means that in the world of education, the real focus is nurturing and helping a child improve, rather than actually teaching content. For example, if a child takes a math class in school, according to the given sentence, the focus is to perhaps teach a child to develop logical thinking or other applicable skills , rather than the actual content of the subject.
