Playing listening exercises over Skype Has anybody found a good way to play listening materials over Skype - in such a way that only the teacher needs to listen to the sound file, with the student being able to listen over Skype (in contrast to a situation where both teacher and student have to listen to the files, separately, on their own computers)? If not, has anybody found an easy way to do this using a different on-line platform? Thanks

Hello Andrew, it has never been properly integrated into skype although there was a fudge that worked. Since Skype has been taken over by micro$oft and updated the fudge no longer works. For regular students I use zoom (zoom.us), I just open a room and send them the room number via skype and then you can do almost everything. If you want a quick tryout let me know - I am quiet at the moment! Bob

If you are saying that you want to be able to play a file so that both you and the student can hear it, you may be able to do with some mixing software on your computer. You would have the mixing software generate a mixed output of both your audio and the audio that you want to play back and this would become the sound source for Skype. Alternatively, a simple external mixer set up correctly can do it.
