The records my kids listened to are hard to remember or find... I haven't kid-tested them, but I will nevertheless recommend Danny Kaye, "Stories for Children" which you can buy on CD, as digital downloads, or listen to at no cost on YouTube. This album is mostly stories by Hans Christian Andersen, a Danish writer whose stories (in English translation!) are beloved in the U.S. (Many people think of his stories as "old fairy tales" and don't know who wrote them). The late Danny Kaye was a comic genius and talented performer, with a special talent for entertaining children, and speaks good, clear, U.S. English --although he performs some of the characters' voices in dialect. "The Tinder Box" (mis-spelled as "tender" in the YouTube clip) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCt3Zt8srOU https://www.amazon.com/Stories-Children-Danny-Kaye/dp/B0059R617U
