An expression for one team chasing other team? Hey folks, What is the most natural way to express that a losing sports team is closely chasing after the winning team? Like the Dodgers scores five runs after they were losing to the Giants 0 to 6. I am trying to say something figuratively to my students to encourage their participation in the course survey, something like you guys are currently winning the other section but they are ________ you. Thanks in advance!I really wish a "like" button here... Thanks so much to you guys both!

Sorry I'm a bit late here. You could also say they are "gaining on" you. Meaning, they are closing the gap between them and you.

I would say they (the team currently losing) are making a comeback.

One expression if you are wanting to be figurative is "on their heels" or "hot on their heels". Such as: The Giants have dominated but the Dodgers are now hot on their heels. Or. ...you guys are currently ahead of the other section but they are hot on your heels. Hope that helps.

the section is just how the classes are divided in my university. The same course is divided into different sections. Students would understand what it means.
