what does " "one sense at a time" mean in this paragraph? i'm translating a book about how to date with a women because of the request of a male customer (sorry because this topic can offend you), and i'm about to finish it. But i still wonder about expression "one sense at a time" in this paragraph: "Seduction is a natural and uncomplicated activity. It can humorously, yet accurately, be described as the process by which males and females who are mutually attracted learn to know each other intimately, one sense at a time, by moving closer to each other at a comfortable pace until the male ends up inside the female and is so comfortable that he inseminates her." i've searched on dictionary and saw that "sense" can understand that "one of the five powers (sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch) that your body uses to get information about the world around you", but i'm not sure that it has this same meaning in this expression, and if that is the case, what does "one sense at a time" mean in this paragraph? Can you explain it to me? Thank!

Yes, it refers to each of the five senses. You would begin with the sense of sight, when you first see someone. The next stage is hearing, when you converse with the person. The next stage is touch, with the first physical contact. With closer contact, you would smell the person. Finally, with kissing and intimate contact you would taste the other person. That's all it is - getting to know someone 'one sense at a time.'

I believe you've interpreted it correctly. It's a strange thing to say, though. I can only imagine that it makes sense in the context of the author's seduction theory.
