Folk Melodies Chamber Orchestra has been founded within the scope of “The Administration of Centre For Music Culture Study and Research” by enthusiastic academical staff from numbers of universities throughout Turkey. The orchestra aims to use traditional elements of Turkish music culture by synthesizing international elements, to extend traditional Turkish music to large mass, to make people like Turkish traditional folk music, to represent Turkey in both domestic and international festivals, to present the old values and the new values together in one piece. Besides, the orchestra also aims to contribute to music education by taking stage with students studying in first, second and third cycle degrees. The orchestra undertake contributing to students’ music education experiences directly as an important duty. Folk Melodies Chamber Orchestra plans to continue its performances with annually renewed student members substituted for former members.
