I have to see that movie [Normal desire] I have GOT to see that movie [Strong desire] Have means to possess something or when you're about to do something Got: When you receive something - I have (gotten) my cat from the pet store [you can add or remove got] Have something - She has (got) a big family [you can add or remove got] Express a stronger desire to do something I have (got) to do this [you can add or remove got] You can say: I've got/gotten my cat from the pet store I got my cat from the pet store I have my cat from the pet store [WRONG]
