Verb Tenses Hi, I would like to know the difference between these phrases: "How much have you had to drink?" "How much did you have to drink?" Thank you very much in advance. :)

How much have you had can be used when you are still drinking. Basically, you would say this to someone who looks drunk How much did you have is for someone who is not drinking any more. You might use it the night after drinking heavily

Hi. The first implies that the person has not finished drinking. It also often implies the thought that the person who is drinking has had too much to drink (if they are drinking alchohol). The second question is as ed AFTER they have finished drinking.
