Qué significa esta frase Todos los niños crecen, excepto uno. No tardan en saber que van a crecer I try to translate every word but it makes no sense: Every kids growing up , except one. they are not to late to know to going to grown up (? )

La segunda parte de la frase no tiene sentido. La mejor traducción que se me ocurre es: All of the kids grow up, except for one. They will soon know that they're going to grow up (or: It'll not take long for them to know that they're going to grow up.) In general the sentences don't make much sense, do you have the context in which it was written?
