what is the expresion to describe a student who participate in the lectures he did not enrol in? use the word "audit" or to " sit in on" ? When I am in my chinese university, I always go to attend a criminal law lectures though I am a student majored in sociology. how to describe this kind of behaviour, please use a example stence to illustrate, thanks you very much.

Are you allowed/encouraged to do it? If not, you can say "to sneak in".
