Use of "gefällt mir" in German Hi. Could someone provide examples of usage of "...gefällt mir"? I know that you can say "es gefällt mir". But how to you say, for example, "I like this food alot"? I am not sure about the order of words in such a sentence. Thanks.

"gefallen/gefällt mir" usually relates either to a pleasing visual impression (Das Bild/die Stadt/der Film/der Mann/das Kleid gefällt mir), i.e. I like the looks of something, or to content (Das Buch/der Film/die Rede/der Witz gefällt mir). You wouldn't use "gefällt mir" with food (or drink), unless you think it's beautifully presented and you just enjoy looking at it. ;) If you like eating or drinking something, you'd use "mögen/ich mag", e.g Ich mag Bier/Wein/Pizza/Schokolade (sehr) = I like beer/wine/pizza/chocolate (a lot) Please note that it's "ich mag" + Noun. If you like an activity, e.g. swimming, you'd say "ich schwimme gern", the adverb "gern" replacing the English "like".

hello! wie geht's Dir? as an example: eine Kleidung / Ein Sportgeafaellt mir! i do not recomend you, to use "gefaellt mir" with foods. i advise you to use, as an example " Ich mag gerne..." or " schmeckt Mir" or even better " Das Essen / es ist nach Meinem Geschmack " Viel Spass!! RB
