What's the difference? How are we supposed to buy things like homes and cars if we have very little at the end of each month for savings? Sentence 2 is incorrect. You can’t write “save the little money”. You could rewrite it to: How are we supposed to buy things like homes and cars when we can only save a little (at the end of) each month?
