People have lived in my old / ancient town since prehistoric times, is it grammatically correct?
I mean , are verbs , adjectives and articles right?

Usually "ancient" refers to something extremely old, perhaps dating to Greek or Roman times. (800BC - 5th Century AD)
Another word you could use to describe an old city might be "historic".
This word might fit better if the city dates from the middle ages. (5th 1500th century)

Everything is fine apart from 'old' which is not good (I'm old, so I can't see very well), you are boasting about your town, and 'ancient' is the word that makes its age sound good.
Sadly I am not old enough to be ancient :-(
