How do you say 'play group' in French? I have seen 'la garderie' but I think that is more like a day care center where the parents aren't there. I have also seen 'un groupe de jeu' but not often..... so I don't know if it is correct. What I am trying to define is a place where mum's (and sometimes dads) come to a location e.g. a center, park, cafe, someones house to spend time together with their kids. The kids can play whilst the ;parents can talk and have coffee.

As a native speaker I honestly have no idea. Here in Hong Kong there are playgroups but it's mostly places where NET teachers teach English for toddlers and the parents just stay with them and attend the lesson. And I also agree that Garderie wouldn't fit in this case.
