Somebody help me for the 'as' in the sentence,Thanks in advance. the 70-episode series charts the rise and fall of a number of women in the Qing court [as] they vie for the ruler’s attention and affection, hoping, one day, they will become the empress.

Hi, The "as" belongs right where it is. it is good. I wonder if "hoping, one day" should be "hoping one day". I grammar checked it and it came back equally correct. I hope this helps, Stephen
