Gaeilge: I Rang A Dó This kids book says "Tá mé i rang nua. Tá mé i rang a dó anois." This kid is talking to his mom. What does it mean to be in second class / class 2? Does that mean the 2nd class of the day? In American English, we say "period". So if there are 4 classes a day, we say period 1, period 2, period 3, and period 4. Or does this mean grade? So we have kindergarten the 1st year, then 1st grade the next year, 2nd grade the year following that, etc.

It's what Americans would call "grade".
