It Or He? If you enter a countryside house and see the mouse has chewed the food do you say 'it has chewed' or 'he has chewed'?

Hello, I would personally say "it's chewed" but "it has chewed" and "he has chewed" is also fine.

In general, animals with names (household pets such as Spot the dog, and occasionally horses and cattle such as Bessy the cow) are he or she and animals without names are it. Animal documentaries will tend to use he/she. (As in "The female tends to the young while the male hunts. He returns at dawn with food.")
