so what's the difference between"be back to "and "be back in"

Hi,
We are always talking about people, places or things.
We go back to places.
We get back into things. (Like groups or organisations).
I am going back to the field, hoping I can get back in with my team.
To confuse the situation a bit, school is used both as a place and a thing.
