You could also say, "There is a lot of money on the line." This means that there is a lot of money that you are at risk of losing.

This means that there's a risk of gaining/losing a lot of money. If my friend and I bet $1,000 on a UFC fight, I want my fighter to win because there's a lot of money at stake.
