Is there any mistakes in the sentences below?
Is the word "back" necessary?
He took the dog to back home.
He took the dog back home.

"back" in this sentence implies that is being returned. So if the dog came from "home", then yes, he would take it "back home". However, if he found a dog in the street and took it home, he's not taking it "back home". Hope this helps

"Took the dog back home," is correct, "Took the dog to back home," is incorrect.
