disturbing to society Text: – Much of what we need recognised and confirmed by others – a lot of what it would be extremely comforting to share – is going to be disturbing to society at large. Q: According to the Dic, 'disturb' is a transitive verb. But it says, 'disturbing to society'. Why?

There is something in the back of my mind that makes me think that 'disturbing' is here being used as a participle adjective and thus takes 'to'.

I agree with Mike. "Disturbing" is an adjective in this context.
