Как използовать "чересчур?" I'm wondering how to use this word. Can I say, "Я хохотался чересчур много в собрание!" or "Эта блюда чересчур горько!"? In which contexts can I use this word? I'm also wondering if this is slang, and if so, is it current or does it sound dated/old? Is this a popular slang word that Russians use, and if so, do all generations use it? Спасибо большой!

"Чересчур" basically means 'too much' or just 'too'. Я чересчур много смеялся = I laughed too much Это блюдо чересчур горькое = This dish is too bitter It's not a slang, but I'd say it is a bit dated. It's been a while since I've heard it from younger people. The most common replacement for it is "слишком".

"Я хохотал чересчур много на собрании!" "Это блюдо чересчур горькое." You can use it in the both contexts. It's not a dated word and you should include it in your vocabulary.

It's an older word and not used much. The most typical usage of it is "Ну это уже чересчур!" (Same as "Ну это уже слишком!") - When someone is acting beyond limits. Anorher usage of it when you are trying to discribe a quality that is too much or over the board as in negative connotation.
