Can I answer fully that "Yes, he was a teacher." or I have to say "Yes, he was formerly a teacher." / "Yes, he was a teacher formerly." / "Yes, formerly, he was a teacher."? b. Can I answer fully that No, he was not a teacher." or I have to say "No, he was never a teacher." 2. Was he once a teacher? a. Can I answer fully that "Yes, he was a teacher." or I have to say "Yes, he was once a teacher." b. a. All answers are correct, but in all cases 'formerly' is not necessary.
