Dad: You should be direct, use their name, be sincere, and say that you regret what you did or said. I always say , "I owe you an apology." ask , please, 1. "use their name = you should use their name" ? 2. "be sincere = you should be sincere" ? Thank you!

Hi Jack, you got those right. "You should be direct, use their name, be sincere, and say that you regret what you did or said" is a compound sentence with four independent clauses: 1. you should be direct 2. (you should) use their name 3. (you should) be sincere 4. (you should) say that you regret what you did or said Since these clauses start with "You should," you may omit the succeeding instances to make the sentence flow better. :)
