Black Coffee in Chinese What's the most natural way to say black coffee? Isn't it 黑咖啡? My friend just came back from his trip to China and told me when he ordered 黑咖啡 at a coffee shop, they triple checked his order to make sure he was getting what he wanted.

I would use "净咖啡" or better still, "沒糖沒奶的咖啡"

Hi! This page may be helpful (Starbucks menu in Chinese). According to this page, espresso is '浓缩咖啡 (nóng suō kā fēi )' and americano is '美式咖啡 (měi shì kā fēi)'. https://www.starbucks.com.cn/menu/beverages/espresso/

In most of China, espresso drinks are more common than drip coffees, so that can cause confusion. When I lived in Xi'an, I would ask for 黑美式咖啡,不用加牛奶。 美式咖啡=Americano I successfully got black coffee that way. There might be a shorter way to say it, though--I'd love it if natives could teach me a better way to order it.
