well, if you want 'literature', it's not going to be too easy or simple, I think.. I would recommend The Little Prince (originally Le Petit Prince in French). I have it in English and Turkish. :)

I agree with Keith. It's better to start with short texts written in a plain tone. I can provide you some literary and non-literary pieces if you like.
