Do/Does in sentences Sometimes I don't understand why "do" and/or "does" are used in sentences like this: 1) Fortunately, we DO have some control over just how much pollution we are exposed to day-to-day 2) It DOES add to evidence linking air pollution to physical health problems and air pollution link to dementia. Can you give me a hand with this? Thank you!

The 'do' and 'does' can be used just to make the statement stronger and more emphatic. Examples: I do want to go but I'm working. My sister does like dogs but she lives in a small flat. I do hope this explanation helps you. It's got nothing to do with the 'do' or 'does' for questions or negatives. Do keep in touch!!!
