sugar coat Hello, I just heard of the expression below, which may give some ideas but I am still not sure of. 'I'm not gonna sugar coat this." Can anyone give some firm ideas on this? Thank you!

It means the speaker is going to say something the other person may not like or want to hear (bad news, perhaps) and he's not going to 'soften' it. The speaker is going to be blunt/to the point, and just give the listener the information.

It means "I'm going to say this without wording it such that it is easier to hear."
