Supplies and provisions The king: I gave supplies to the French army in the south because they are here to help us. Is it correct to use "supplies"? What about "provisions"? I want meaning of food, cloth, things needed in army in one word. Thank you.

Supplies is correct. Provisions can be a synonym for supplies, but often 'provisions' is used to refer to food supplies, while 'supplies is more general - food and goods.
