Past or Past Perfect Are the following two sentences both correct? If so, is there any difference between them? a) I shared a room with my brother until I became seventeen. b) I had shared a room with my brother until I became seventeen. Thank you in advance.

Sentence (a) is better, you'd don't need "had". However, the sentence sounds unnatural. In English, we ARE an age or we TURN an age. I shared a room with my brother until I was seventeen I shared a room with my brother until I turned seventeen
