2 "Or"s in a sentence
Hello
Is it possible to use two "or"s in a sentence like this?
We haven't ventured to ask him whether or not he was married or had children.
Are " was"and "had" OK?
Shouldn't they be in present tense?
Thanks
Peter is right - this sentence uses indirect speech, and so some of the verbs are moved back a step in time.
To answer your original question, the two “or”s are okay!

Good question - I think they are OK, as the act of asking the question was in the past (even though it is told in present perfect), and the sentence looks like as if it was indirect speech.
