Raising a family was one of those issues on my little list--things you want to get right before it's too late.
Right before, means immediately before, just before, right?
Right means immediately, just?
Look at the sentence like this:
[things you want to get right] [before it's too late].
Is that clearer? As you can see, the word 'right' belongs to the previous phrase ( 'get [something] right').
"things you want to get right" is the noun phrase
"before it's too late" is an adverbial phrase
