It is very common and acceptable to say, "what time did you get home" or "what time did you get the bus". The word "arrive" sounds more formal. For example, people might ask, "what time are you expecting your guests to arrive" or "what time did the lawyer arrive at the courthouse".

They can be used the same; When I arrived home, it was late. / When I got home, it was late.
