Does it sound correct in English? 1. When I was younger I had been going in for sport. 2. When I was younger I had gone in for sport. 3. While I went on the road I had lost my money.

1. and 2. Should be something like: When I was younger, I played a lot of sports. 3. Should be something like: While on the road I lost my money.

No they are not. You play sports. You do sports. You do not go in for sports. It sounds weird.
