Hi,
I’m not sure about a book that covers “all the differences”, but The Prodigal Tongue: The Love-Hate Relationship Between American and British English by Dr. Lynne Murphy goes into interesting historical and linguistic explanations for why, for instance, we Americans pronounce it “erb” and the British say “Herb” with a voiced /h/. It’s really great for general readers — she’s very witty.
Murphy is a US-born-and-educated linguist who has lived and taught in the UK since 2000.
She also has a great blog: separatedbyacommonlanguage.blogspot.com
