Pipeline Hi everybody! could please restate this sentence? It uses internships to expose students to its work environment and select candidates for its technical talent pipeline I think the meaning of pipeline doesn't fit with the definition that Longman dictionary offered. which is: a line of connecting pipes, often under the ground, used for sending gas, oil etc over long distances Thank you in advance for your help

Hi everybody! could please restate this sentence? "It uses internships to expose students to its work environment and select candidates for its technical talent pipeline" 'Pipeline' isn't being used literally here. The writer is using it in a symbolic or figurative sense. Imagine a pipeline channeling water to a house. Here, the 'pipeline' is delivering candidates for it's technical pool. The writer is playing with words a little as he's linking a pipeline delivering water to maybe a pool or reservoir, with a 'pipeline' delivering not water, but applicants to a pool of not water, but a technical 'pool'. There are many ways of rewording, one is: "It uses internships to expose students to its work environment and to supply/direct candidates to its technical pool."
