Using the term, jobless sound tactless. It is a less delicate way to describe being without a source of income. The word, unemployed is a good business-like description. The expression "out of work", however, is very common in everyday speech. For example, if you are going for a job interview, they might ask, "How long have you been unemployed". You could answer, "I have been OUT OF work for 3 months".
