What verb do you use with “shift”?
I have a hard time using verbs with this word “shift”. Nigh shift, day shift.
I work night shift. I switch shift with my other colleague who works day shift. We rotate shifts.

I work the night shift.
I switched shifts with my colleague who had the day shift.
We rotate shifts.
My shift ends at 11.
He drives a stick shift. (Manual transmission)

you may use it in this instance:
When I was watching a movie, my left legs became numb so I shifted and lean on my right side.
The truck is uneven, kindly shift the whole cargo to the center.
