Yep the second one is correct; what do you do for A living? You can also ask "what do you do?" and this is understood as "what do you do for a living"

"What do you do for a living?" You can also ask, "How do you make a living?" These are common ways to ask about someone's job or source of income.

The 2nd is the correct form. It's possible you'll hear the 1st very casually on occasion. Some people speak the 'a' very softly and probably the odd person drops it.
